Lettie's Ocean Shawl
Inspired by Neil Gaiman’s “The Ocean at the End of the Lane,” Lettie’s Ocean Shawl is knit with Cascade 220 Heathers in worsted weight yarn. The yarn color, Satine, really captures the ocean feel of the textured stitch and brings the mood of the shawl to life.
Lettie’s Ocean Shawl knitting pattern knits up in one piece and is suitable for beginner knitters and above.
The pattern has been revised to provide you with a printer-friendly format. Print only what you need!

FINISHED SIZE:
67” (170 cm) X 19” (48 cm).
YARDAGE REQUIREMENTS:
Approximate yardage used: 1100 yds / 1000 m.
Finished size and yardage requirements may vary depending on your yarn choice and gauge. Be sure to buy additional yarn if you plan to add length/width to your scarf project.
NOTE:
Since publication, the Cascade 220 yarn color Satine (#2434) has been discontinued. However, here are some similar color alternatives: Lapis Heather (#9689) or Mallard (#2448).
CIRCULAR KNITTING NEEDLES:
Lettie’s Ocean Shawl is knit flat, back and forth, in one piece. I used circular needles to accommodate the number of stitches required.
GAUGE:
Knit in pattern using US Size 8 (5 mm) 30” circular knitting needles, or size needed to obtain gauge:
22 sts x 24 rows = 4” 10 cm in stitch pattern, washed and blocked.
Gauge is not critical but will affect the finished size and yardage requirements for this project.
