Lettuce (or cabbage)
by Rochelle Ham
This pattern is
available for free.
This is a pattern to knit a whole lettuce/cabbage. To make this, you first knit an egg like ball in the round and then knit three small and three large leaves that are positioned and sewn into place.
As with most toys, gauge isn’t important as long as you achieve a firm fabric that won’t show the stuffing through.
In the example given I held two strands of DK together and knitted in 5.5mm needles to give a fairly life sized lettuce. You can always use bigger or smaller needles, thicker or thinner wool, to achieve different sizes.
Individual leaves can also be knitted as part of a salad if desired.
