Lewis the Narwhal first appeared in TOFT Quarterly Magazine’s Winter 2018 issue, and is a great kit for enthusiastic beginners who are looking to add a couple more techniques to their crochet skillset.

Fondly known as the ‘unicorn of the sea’, the narwhal is a strange and beautiful creature with an iconic spiraled tusk that is in fact an enlarged tooth. They change colour as they age, from a blue-grey when they are newborns, darkening as they grow older and reaching a mottled grey once they become adults.

TOFT’s Edward’s Menagerie collection is a series of crochet amigurumi toys designed by Kerry Lord. This crochet animal kit contains TOFT’s quality pure wool yarn and an easy-to-follow downloadable pattern. There are video links for all the crochet stitches and techniques used in the pattern to get you started and help you complete your toy. Share your progress with the TOFT community on Instagram @toft_uk using the #edsanimalsedsanimals hashtag.

YOU WILL NEED: To complete your crochet animal you will need a few added extras including a 3mm crochet hook, toy stuffing and a wool needle. Find everything you need in our haberdashery section or upgrade to a complete kit which includes all of the above!

MEASUREMENTS: When finished your Narwhal will be approximately 43cm long from end of tusk to end of tail.

SKILL LEVEL 2: This kit is suitable for enthusiastic beginners or those who have crocheted before.

IT WILL TAKE: Approximately 5-10 hours crochet time.
