Liath (pronounced Lee-ah, ‘grey’ in Irish) is a triangular garter stitch shawl featuring a simple slipped stitch pattern. The shawl is designed to showcase mini skeins, combining one large semi-solid skein with complementary semi-solid and speckled mini skeins.

The shawl is worked flat, beginning with just a few stitches and increasing as you work. The pattern begins with alternating garter stitch stripes before introducing the slipped stitch motifs. The mini skeins are arranged in a fade progression, and the slipped stitch pattern changes as each new colour is introduced. The shawl is finished in a single-colour border.

One size: 78 x 112 x 150 cm / 30 x 44 x 59 inches (measured along curving edges)
Yarn: Fingering / 4 ply weight yarn in the following quantities:
MC 400m / 440 yards
CC1-4 85 m / 92 yards each

Ellie and Ada sock mini skein (75% Superwash Merino 25% Nylon, 85m / 92 Yards per 20g

The contrast colours are arranged in a fade progression with a pop of colour at the end.

Gauge: 25 sts & 50 rows over 10 cm / 4” in garter stitch, knit flat.
Additional Materials:
3.25 mm needle or size needed to achieve gauge, in your preferred needle for knitting flat
Stitch markers
Darning needle (for weaving in ends)
