Libby Capelet
Can I say that I’m in love with this capelet and still be humble? I created this pattern for myself about a hundred years ago and still wear it all the time and I always get compliments on it. It’s a poncho but not tooo grandma. Though I love a good granny poncho!
I have made this with SO many types of yarn, #5/#6 bulky, double stranded #3/#4, and the original - a single strand of #4 using up almost the entire skein of Caron One Pound. I always see this yarn on sale and think… what can I make with it? THIS!
This super cozy capelet is REVERSIBLE and works up fast by using two different sized crochet hooks. It is crocheted in the round from the top down for the body and the cowl is created by picking up stitches around the neckline. Or omit the cowl for a different look!
The Front Post and Back Post stitches add a ton of visual interest and help create a stretchy, swingy cropped poncho.
