Lichen and Lace
Starting with an asymmetrical triangle shawl shape, the main body is worked one way, and then stitches are picked up on the one side and joined with the live stitches to create the border.
Yarn: 3 skeins 80/20 Sock by Lichen and Lace; 365 yards/100 grams; 80% Superwash Merino/20% Nylon
C1: Marsh Lily
C2: Citron
C3: Rhubarb
Gauge: 22 sts by 25 rows equal 4” by 4” in garter before blocking
Needles: 3.5 mm (US 4) 40” circular needle; or size needed to obtain gauge
Notions: stitch markers, darning needle
Finished size: Centre Depth: 19” (48.25cm);
Wingspan: 91” (231cm)
Section 1 of the shawl is worked in one direction,
once complete you leave the sts on hold while you
pick up sts starting at the CO edge, going up the long
side of the work; these new sts and the live sts form
the border of the shawl
St markers are helpful in Section 2 to denote the 18 st
repeat for the lace
