Life-size Skiploom
Skiploom is a grass and flying type Pokémon. Its design is based on a bulb and flower, but to me it looks a bit like a dog with those big spaniel ears. I was commissioned to make a Skiploom about the same size as it is supposed to be in the games. I couldn’t believe how big this Pokémon is! So I used Super Chunky weight yarn to cheat a little – it allows it to be made up just as fast as a regular sized plushie would be.
Final dimensions:
748g weight, 25cm tall, 32cm across.
This is a seriously chunky plushie. It’s practically a pouf cushion! You could also try making a smaller version by following the pattern using DK yarn and a 4mm hook, but I am not certain if everything would end up in the right proportions; please let me know if you try this.
You will need:
• Super Chunky/ Super Bulky weight yarn in green, yellow and white (I used Robin Super chunky, 400g of Shade 16 (Apple) and 100g of Shade 136 (Mustard). For the white I actually used 3 strands of DK weight yarn held together, to avoid buying a whole ball of yarn that I would only use a small amount of).
• 10mm hook (N)
• A large amount of stuffing
• Red beads or felt for eyes; black DK weight yarn for mouth embroidery
