Life's Better When Camping
This pattern was inspired by my love of camping and from happy childhood memories. Both the tent and vintage trailer charts are provided in this pattern. Make a pair with both the same camping motif or make a pair with one of each!
These socks are knit cuff down, increasing sts and changing needle size for the colourwork to accommodate the less stretchy fabric of stranded knitting. I started with a US1 (2.25mm) needle and increased to a US1 ½ (2.5mm) for the colourwork. Many sock knitters have specific needle sizes they always use for making socks. I encourage you to use what needles you are comfortable with for socks. I choose my needle sizes depending on the fabric a particular yarn will give me.
The heel is an eye of partridge design, the snow-capped mountains at the toes add a bit more camping fun, and the toe is stitched together with Kitchener stitch.
Sizes are s, m, l, and xl using 56, 64, 72, and 80 sts.

GAUGE:
Using US1 (2.25mm) after blocking, over single colour stocking stitch, knit in the round: 34 sts x 46 rows = 4”/10cm
Using US1½ (2.5 mm) after blocking, over stranded pattern knit in the round: 34 sts x 41 rows = 4”/10cm
One full 100g skein of sock yarn will be enough for the main colour. A 50g skein will be more than enough for the mountains, heel and toes.
A 20g skein will be enough for the trees.
A 20g skein will be enough for both tent and trailer or two of each.
