GENERAL INFORMATION
As the needles click and the yarn flows, Life’s River unfolds—a flowing, elegant shawl that blends two contrasting yarns through a striking mosaic pattern. The mosaic (slip-stitch) design creates a meandering transition from one color to the next, echoing the natural shifts of a winding river. This asymmetrical triangular shawl is worked from a few cast-on stitches out to the broad edge, with a contrasting i-cord bind-off for a polished finish. Whether you choose bold contrasts or subtle shifts, this shawl reflects movement, change, and harmony in every row.
MATERIALS
Yarn
MC (pale): ~100 g, 240 m / 262 yds DK weight yarn. Shown in The Yarn Collective Bloomsbury DK (Stormy Grey).
CC (dark): ~100 g, 240 m / 262 yds DK weight yarn. Shown in The Yarn Collective Bloomsbury DK (Indigo).
Yarn choice: For the pattern to stand out it is VERY important to have a good contrast (light vs dark, or very different colours). The pattern is best suited to solid or semi solid colours. Resist the temptation to buy two yarns that complement each other because they share colours in common as the pattern will be quickly lost. Likewise, if you want to use a variegated yarn, make it a bold one, and the other skein a very different solid neutral shade.
Needles and Notions
5.0 mm (US 8) circular needle min 80 cm / 32 inches long, or size to obtain gauge.
