“The Liffey cuts the city like a meandering blue vein”. A simple stranded colorwork hat inspired by the Liffey river, running through Dublin city. This hat features a folded brim, and scattered-decreases crown for a snug fit. The 4 colour colorwork results in a thick fabric, perfect for the coldest winter.
On the construction:
This pattern is knitted in the round using the magic loop technique.
Sizes:
Sizes to fit approximately 45.5(50, 54)cm 18(19.5, 21)” in circumference at the widest point, just below the hairline. The hat is not very stretchy, so please check gauge.
Yarn: 3, Light (DK, Sport)
Drops LIMA, 65% wool, 35% alpaca. 50g/1.8oz = 100 m/109yds. MC: 0519; CC: 9016; CC1: 0707; CC2: 9020.
Alternative: Darkomenyarn DINASTY, 15% yak, 85% Merino wool. 100g/3.5oz = 300m/328 yds.
Yarn Requirements:
About 40g/1.5oz of MC, 25g/1oz of CC, CC1, CC2.
Tension:
22 Sts and 28 rounds = 10cm 4” over 1 by 1 ribbing.
Needles Suggestion:
2.75mm US2 40cm/16”, circular needle
3mm US 3 40cm/16”, circular needle.
