I love eyelets and simple designs! This shawl is very wearable and also very easy to knit!

The shawl requires only one skein of fingering weight yarn but thanks to the bigger needles it has a generous size, 150 cm x 70 cm when blocked. Block it aggressively to open up the eyelet parts!! The bigger needles also make the shawl very light and airy! It drapes wonderfully around your neck and since it has a slightly crescent shape it stays put on your shoulders. The shawl is knitted in stockinette stitch with an easy lace border.

Please note that if you are using smaller needles than stated in the pattern you are going to end up with a totally different kind of shawl, both in drape and size!

There are so many ways to knit this shawl. The yellow shawl is knitted in linen yarn and is a perfect summer shawl. The blue is knitted in Malabrigo Sock Yarn and can be worn all year round as a bit of squishy luxury around your neck. The red one is knitted in Schoppel-Wolle Zauberball. You can also play with different colors for the body and the lace parts. Or why not knit it with lace yarn for an even more airy and light shawl. The pattern includes a bit different version for just that.

Afterthought: I’ve noticed that many of you have run out of yarn before the shawl is finished. I made three shawls just to check the yardage, but maybe I’m a tight knitter. Here’s what you can do: Begin the lace pattern earlier. You can start it anytime as long as it’s from the WS.
