Lightning Hills Cowl
Colourful zig-zags strike like lightning across the face of this cowl, leaving an imprint in the memory.
Lightning Hills is a striking and colourful cowl with a simple two-colour zig-zag worked in stranded colourwork and two-colour corrugated ribbing at the top and bottom in corresponding colours. Using a neutral coloured background lets the contrasting colours shine out dramatically. Using more muted colours gives you an earthier, more natural look.
175 yards of Sublime Extra Fine Merino Dk were used for the background, with 65 yards of each contrast colour (also Sublime Extra Fine Merino DK).
The pattern is written and charted - the chart is a simple colourwork chart - ideal for trying colourwork for the first time.
Measurements are: 24cm/9.5” height and 60cm/23.5”circumference
Needles and notions: 4mm (US 6) circular needle - 16” length, tapestry needle for weaving in ends, stitch marker for end of round.
Skills required: Knitting in the round, stranded colourwork, cable cast on, corrugated ribbing.
