Lightning Strikes Twice Cushion
This is an overlay mosaic crochet pattern with three designs included - large lightning, small lightning and small lightning with cloud. All include a chart and written instructions and the two smaller patterns can be combined/ mixed easily.
These are fairly simple patterns suitable for someone who is intermediate at crochet. If you are new to mosaic crochet patterns, I have added some basic instructions and photos, and links for some of my favorite video tutorials. If you want to make the lightning cloud in a different color than the lightning bolt, you will need basic tapestry crochet techniques which are explained in the pattern.
I give instructions to make a cushion cover, but the patterns could be used for a blanket, table runner or wall hanging, amongst many other possibilities. All the designs repeat every 40 stitches across so they can be combined and used in projects in a wide range of sizes.
For my cushion cover (14x14”) project, I used 110g / 325m / 355yards dark colors and 80g / 235m / 260yards light colors. About 10g of the light colors was gray yarn for the cloud. I used DK weight (group 3) yarn - Stylecraft special DK in black and saffron.
I’d love to see what you make!
