How to crochet an easy headband worked in your favorite lightweight yarn, the cute and classic granny stitch pattern and joined with a fun mobius twist (or leave it off and join as a simple tube). Toddler, Child and Adult sizes included.
Video tutorial in progress.
The mobius twist looks really cute worn with it on the front over your forehead, but it also is great at the base of your neck if you don’t like to have the extra bulkiness of a headband with the same shaping all the way around.
This ear warmer is part of the 2024 Mystery Earwarmer Crochet a Long - Design 3.
Now, you are right in asking, “I thought we were doing an earwarmer crochet a long?” When it came this beautiful granny stitch pattern, I knew the lacy stitch pattern was not going to serve the same purpose as an ear warmer so I decided to work it in my favorite lightweight cotton blend, add in the cute mobius twist and make it an everyday headband. I do have plans to work up a cozy version so stay tuned!

Materials:
- By Width for Each of 3 Sizes: (30, 33, 35), (40, 44, 46), (55, 60, 62), (65, 73, 75) of Lightweight Yarn - I used Berroco Modern Cotton DK in the Rosecliff colorway
- G6/4.25mm Crochet Hook
- Tapestry Needle
- Tape Measure (gauge is essential)
Material Notes:
There are many fun yarn options, but my go-to is usually a cotton blend. For a band that will encompass the circumference of your head alone, you’ll want it to be a blend with another fiber since cotton yarn alone by it’s nature, stretches out and does not bounce back to shape so a secondary fiber helps it to bounce back to shape. For years now, my favorite lightweight cotton blend has been Berroco Modern Cotton DK. It wears and machine washes and dries well, feels great against the skin and creates a nice, breathable fabric, is affordable and comes in so many beautiful colors! Lion Brand Coboo is a close second.
You can easily switch this yarn out for your favorite lightweight yarn! The less cotton in the yarn, the warmer it will be with an animal fiber, like wool or alpaca, adding the most warmth.
Time Spent:
Just about an hour and a half for the Adult Small in the 3” width.
Sizes:
Toddler, Child / Adult Small and Adult Large
Gauge:
Provided in the written pattern, and measured in pattern.
Gauge itself is not terribly essential, but at least measuring your piece is, otherwise, the finished earwarmer may not fit correctly.

- PLT - Pull Loop Through Join (Explained)
