This standard fitting cardigan in infant and small toddler sizes is the perfect place to practice your stranded color knitting technique, and learn to steek a front and armholes. Loads of photos walk you through the finishing. Although the colors used for this little charmer are subtle, you can easily customize them with a pastel or bright colorway. This would also be a great place to use a special hand dyed colorway in place of all the contrasting colors.

Years ago, a yarn shop owner asked me if I knew about a decorative bind-off method that creates a cabled look along the join. I had to admit that I hadn’t but would see if I could find out. Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to find any instructions for such a bind-off. But with this cardigan, I decided to see if I could work out one. I’m pleased with the result, and hope you’ll find it intriguing, too. It can seem to be a bit fiddly at first, but is pretty easy to get the hang of.
