Lilac Shawl
by Martha Wood
This top-down triangle shawl is a simple garter knit with lace sections of flowers. The main colour is a neutral to show off the colours of the mini skeins. Purple is my favourite colour and I was inspired by Lilacs. When I decided on the name Lilac, I did some research and discovered that Lilacs are the most common plant that blooms in Ukraine, with much significance and integration into culture and folklore. My Ukrainian heritage runs deep, and I am constantly learning about my Ukrainian culture and heritage. I feel my ancestors spoke to me in the design and name of the Lilac Shawl.
