Lilacs & Rain Shawl
My first spring at Colorado State University was a unique assault on my senses. Because I was born and raised in the desert western half of Colorado, my nose had to acclimate to the flora and the amount of moisture in the air. That spring, I unknowingly fell in love. Afternoon rainstorms that lasted just long enough to dampen the grass and awaken the scent of the numerous lilacs on campus stole my heart. The scent of the tiny flowers along with the moist earth brings back cherished memories and joy to my heart every spring.
