Lille rose: meaning “little rose” in Norwegian is my latest top-down sweater with influences from my native country….
I love wearing sweaters like these: they suits my love of outdoor life:)
Construction Lille Rose is worked top-down and in the round. It is completely seamless. You can start the neckline from a traditional or a provisional cast-on. The provisional cast-on gives you the advantage of shaping the neckline for a lower front neck than back at the end of the knitting. Both methods are explained in the pattern.
You work the circular yoke to the underarms, where work is divided for lower body and sleeves. You can work the body straight, or with waist-shaping (explained). Sleeves can be worked to any length.
Sizes Thw sweater is supposed to be roomy and comfortable.
There are 6 sizes to choose from. Finished bust measurements are: 37/39/42.5/44.5/47/49”. (You could adjust sizing by working to a slightly different gauge). Length of sleeves and body are worked according to your personal measurements and taste.
Gauge 25 sts and 32 rows = 10x10cm/4x4”. To work to exact measurements you need to follow gauge.
Materials
I used a 100% pure, Swedish wool to work the sweater: Ullcentrums Sport weight. This yarn comes in skeins of 100gr/3.53 oz and 300m/328yards.
I worked with 3 natural colors and 1 dyed color.
You will need the following amount of above yarn:
MC (main color): natural black: 3/3/4/4/5/5 skeins.
CC1: natural brown: 1 skein. CC2: natural white: 1 skein.
CC3: pink: 1 skein.
Needles: choose needle size to obtain gauge! Below are recommended sizes.
You will need a small circular needle 60cm/24” 2.5mm/US1.5
A small circular needle 60cm/24” 3mm/US2.5
A long circular needle 80cm/32” 3mm/US2.5
A long circular needle 80cm/32” 2.5mm/US1.5
A set of dpns 3mm/US2.5 for the sleeves (or det circular needle if working the magic loop.
Stitch-markers, row-counter. Seperate holders (for the underarm sts). If working from a provisional cast-on: a crochet hook.
The pattern: the pattern is easy to follow with a full chart for the yoke from neck to the end of the stranded pattern. All necessary stitch-counts are given. All measurements are in cm’s as well as inches.
Please note that the yardage is approximate. The contrasting colors are only used in small amounts. Perfect for stash-down:)
