I have knit many baby blankets over the years! A blanket is an item that is often cherished and well-loved, especially when it is made by someone special. They often live on as capes and play tents or as a chosen lovey on a night away from home.
This blanket was designed and named for my new niece. I wanted it to be straightforward and colorful with just a little bit of detail to make it shine. I love that it’s customizable (you could even make doll blankets or full-sized blankets!). The edging is a tidy i-cord (no picking up stitches or finishing at the end!) and is mainly smooth stockinette with just a touch of simple slipped-stitch colorwork. The overall blanket is knit on the bias from corner to corner with increases or decreases at the beginning and end of each RS row. I hope you enjoy knitting this pattern as much as I have creating it!
MATERIALS
YARN
Blue Sky Fibers Sweater Worsted (160yds/100g)
2 skeins of each color: Bloomsberry (C1), Lilac (C2), and Sweet Roll (C3)
You may substitute with a Worsted/Heavy Worsted/Aran weight yarn that provides the same or comparable gauge. Any gauge that differs from the recommended gauge will likely require different yardage.
NEEDLES
US 8 (5.0mm) 32” or longer circular needles
NOTIONS
Darning needle
Scissors
2 Stitch Markers
GAUGE
15 sts & 24 rows/4” in stockinette stitch knit on the bias on gauge needles after blocking. (My final blocking was stretched a bit to square up the corners. I’d recommend doing a gauge swatch on the bias!)
SIZING
One size (adjustable)
Final size was approximately 35” x 34” measured from the middle of the sides of the blanket. The final shape is slightly diamond-shaped due to knitting on the bias.
