Lily Collar
Sizes: A (B) C (D)
Final Measurements:
Length: 23 (24) 26 (29) cm (9¼ (9½) 10½ (11½) in) (excl. turtleneck collar)
Shoulder width: Approx. 37½ (40) 42½ (45½) cm (15 (16) 17 (18) in)
To choose the best fit, measure your shoulders end to end to match with the closest finished shoulder width of the garment. If you are between two sizes, I would recommend sizing down if you intend for this garment to be a layering piece to help it sit more comfortably under coats/jackets.
Gauge:
15 sts x 52 rows = 10 x 10 cm (4 x 4 in) in brioche stitch on 3.75 mm (US5)
needles after wash and blocking (please note that 52 rows in brioche are counted as 26 knit rows)
20 sts x 32 rows = 10 x 10 cm (4 x 4 in) in 1 x 1 ribbing on 3.5mm (US4) needles after wash and blocking (gauge for turtleneck collar)
Suggested Needles:
Circular needles: 3.75 mm (US5) and 3.5 mm (US4) in various lengths to knit main body and collar or use any needles that help you achieve gauge
Yarn:
394 (421) 468 (529) m (431 (462) 513 (580) yd) in worsted weight yarn.
Includes the m/yd needed for the gauge swatches
Suggestion 1: Heavy Merino by Knitting for Olive (50g = 125 m (137 yd))
Suggestion 2: Trio by Navia (Hobbii) (50g = 120 m (131 yd))
Suggestion 3: Woolstok by Blue Sky FIbers (50g = 112 m (123 yd))
Suggestion 4: Ultra Wool by Berroco (100g = 200 m (219 yd))
To choose the best yarn, pick a yarn with little drape (most wool yarns) to help the collar stand up when worn. Try to avoid yarns with lots of drape such as alpaca, cashmere, or silk as this will cause the collar to droop and not hold up at the neckline.
The sample was knit with one strand of Knitting for Olive Heavy Merino. The project may be knit with one strand of DK weight yarn held with one strand of lace weight yarn or 2 strands of fingering weight yarn held with one strand of lace weight yarn for some less than a sweater’s quantity stash busting. Any combination of yarn may work as long as it meets the gauge.
