Lily of the Valley is one of the first wild flowers to bloom in the spring. Found all over the American Continent in different varieties, they are delicate small white blooms that present in a line on a little, curved stem. I wanted to create a design that was just as delicate as these beauties. The Lily of the Valley Shawl incorporates a lovely lace pattern with a rectangle bias shape for a pleasing and rewarding knitting experience.

2 skeins of The Buffalo Wool Company Sexy, (50% bison down/50% mulberry silk)
OR 800 yards of any lace weight yarn

Beads (optional) 750 size 8/0 beads – sample uses Delica beads, color: opal

US #4 circular needle 32-40” cable to hold stitches as you work back and forth

Notions required 20 or more stitch markers for casting on and for lace pattern if desired, tapestry needle, crochet hook for placing beads, blocking supplies

GAUGE
4“ = 24 stitches in stockinette (after blocking)
4” = 36 rows in stockinette (after blocking)
NOTE: Gauge is only important in that it will affect the final measurements of the shawl and the amount of yarn needed to complete the project, as well as the tension and drape of the finished fabric.

PATTERN NOTES
- Lily of the Valley Shawl is a rectangle bias shawl (parallelogram shape). The stitch count never changes.

• Instead of beading the shawl, you may use mini bobbles, bobbles or nupps. Please note that the yarn requirement is for beading only. If you choose these other knitted options, you will need more yarn.
