Size
Using this weight yarn and size hook will give you a ladybug roughly measuring
24cm/9.5 inches measured from the bum to the head
16cm/ 6 inches from side to side .
15cm/6 inches from feet to the antenna
Useful items
Scissors
Tapestry Needle used for sewing in ends
Stitch markers
Abbreviations
All the crochet stitches used in this pattern are based on American crochet terms
sc = single crochet
dc = double crochet
hdc= half double
trc = treble crochet
inc= increase
dec= decrease
Sl st= slip stitch
rnd= round
If you are planning to make your ladybug in a heavier weight yarn, adjust your hook size accordingly. Use the smallest hook size possible for the weight of yarn that you are using. We need the stitches tight so the stuffing doesn’t show too much between stitches. I recommend making a test motif to gauge tension.
This pattern is easy to follow but requires basic crochet knowledge. It is written in US terms but easy to convert to UK.
It is worked in African Flower shapes with instructions on how to make them. Written form with photographs and handy hints to follow for assembly.
