Lily Top
Sizes: A (B, C, D, E) (F, G, H, I)
To fit bust sizes approx: 30 (34, 38, 42, 46) (50, 54, 58, 60)” / 76 (86, 96, 106, 117) (127, 137, 147, 157) cm
Garment bust measurements: 31 (35, 39, 43, 47) (50, 55, 59, 63)“ / 78 (88, 98, 108, 119) (127, 139, 149, 159) cm
Yarn: Sample knitted in Black Isle Yarns Auchen (375m/100g). Any yarn that meets the gauge may be used.
Note: As this top is knit with some positive ease you can also use cotton, linen, bamboo or other plant based fibres.
Yardage: 150 (170, 190, 210, 230) (250, 270, 290, 310) grams / 560 (640, 710, 780, 860) (940, 1010, 1090, 1160) metres
Needles: 3 mm & 3.5 mm circular needles and/or DPNs
Needle sizes are recommended, choose a size needed to achieve gauge, the smaller needle should be 0.5 mm smaller than the larger needle.
Gauge: 24 stitches & 32 rows per 4” / 10 cm in stockinette on larger needles after blocking. If you find that your flat and in the round gauge differ a lot, check both a flat and in the round gauge swatch.
Notions: 2 spare cables or waste yarn to hold the back and shoulders, at least 10 removable stitch markers and 1 sliding marker.
Difficulty: Confident beginner/Intermediate. Techniques include german short rows, knitwise and purlwise increases, picking up stitches and knitting in the round. All techniques are standard and tutorials can easily be found online.
Choosing your size & fit: The top is designed to fit with a small amount of positive ease around the full bust, and very little/negative ease on the shoulders and high bust. Use both the final garment and wearer size charts to pick your size. If your high bust measurement varies greatly from the full bust measurement in the “ideal” wearer chart consider choosing your size based on your high bust measurement instead. However, remember that this will result in more/less ease on the full bust, a small amount of negative ease on the full bust is preferential to too much positive ease on the full bust, I would suggest picking a size with no more than 2”/5cm positive ease on the full bust.
Sample information: The sample is size B worn on a 33” full bust, 32” high bust, resulting in slightly more positive ease on the full bust than someone who fits the standard wearer chart.
Construction: Knit top down, starting by working flat to shape the back and neckline, then joined in the round to work the body. Sleeve stitches are picked up and the sleeve caps shaped with short rows. Length of the body and sleeves can be easily modified.
