Linen & Lace Cowl Easy
This is my first pattern designed by myself.
It uses simple stitches to create a beautiful cowl piece.
Stitches you need to know to complete this pattern:
YF = bring yarn forward
YB = bring yarn to the back
K = Knit one stitch
K2tog = knit two stitches together
It took me about eight hours to create, as a beginning knitter.
Suggested variations are to alternate colours between the linen and lace sections, or use a patterned yarn for the linen section.
Note that when cast off this looked way too small, but using a woollen yarn meant it increased in size by approx 30% when wet blocked.
Pattern:
Linen and Lace Cowl
Materials Needed:
• 200 – 400 metres woollen yarn
• 6mm circular needle 90cm long
• Tapestry needle to weave in ends
(Note: wool will stretch when blocking but acrylic won’t. If using acrylic, double yarn allowance, increase cast on by 30% and repeat linen and lace sections each one to two more times)
Cast on 151 / 301 stitches (depending on if you want a single loop or double loop cowl, and how lose you want it to sit)
