This washcloth is the result of combining two stitch patterns with opposing forces to construct a dense yet frilly fabric. The slips in the linen stitch cause horizontal compression while the twisted stitch technique used in the plait basket stitch achieves vertical compression. The ruffle effect is created by simply blocking the border to align with the main section. For added presentation impact, fold in half with ruffly edges together, roll into cylinder shape, and secure with ribbon.
