Linen Weave Boomerang
You can buy the pattern individually or as part of either the Linen Weaves or the Spare Boomerangs ebook (3 or 4 patterns for 7 euros).
Not really a boomerang, but then it’s not really woven either….
(ETA - this is the first pattern I ever called a boomerang - I already had a crescent and a triangle in the collection - my husband took one look at it and said, “it looks like a boomerang” - so boomerang it was - and now others seem to have picked up the name to describe this shape too.)
Linen stitch is one of my favourite stitches and this is one of my favourite shapes.
You start with just a few stitches and knit until you like the size or run out of yarn - whichever comes first - then bind off (special bind-off worked with just one yarn, but which is very easy and gives a nice 2-colour effect).
You can use the pattern to create 2 different versions: one with stockinette bands in the MC and the other worked completely in linen stitch.
Listed as Worsted - which works well, but you can use any yarn weight you like.
Great for handspun because you can use up every last bit of it. Also if your handspun is a bit irregular, it just adds to the effect.
You could also use self-striping or highly variegated yarn for the CC.
For the version with stockinette bands:
Main colour : minimum 200 m.
Contrast colour: minimum 100 m.
For all linen stitch:
At least 200m of each yarn (you’ll use bigger needles, details in the pattern).
