Linking
This is a one piece, top-down poncho. It is a very versatile poncho which can be worn whichever way you want. It will look great in any yarn and colour. The poncho comes in two versions.
In version 1, the first part is knitted flat which can be adjusted to fit around the shoulders. You can cross the 2 ends at opposite direction and use a shawl pin or magnetic button to hold them together. The second part is knitted in the round where the width of the body can be adjusted either narrower or wider. This version does not require the use of cable cast on (see sample worked in black/white)
Version 2 requires the use of cable cast-on which is used for the 16-st lace panel (see sample worked in red/grey). Again, this starts off knitted flat and is then joined to work in the round.
In both versions, the length can be adjusted to suit you. I used a decorative picot bind off, but any decorative bind off would work with this pattern. Gauge is unimportant, but the gauge of the pictured samples is given below as guidance.
My gauge: Version 1
Section 1: 1” = 4 sts x 4 rows
Section 2: 1” = 4.5 sts x 7 rows
Measurement lying flat
Size s (slightly felted):
Black – Top edge 42” x 13” deep
White – 16.5” (L) x 8” (H); circumference 33”
Size m (unfelted):
Red – Top edge 44” x 14” deep
Grey –18” (L) x 11” (H); circumference 36”
Many thanks to beluke for knitting it and giving me great feedback!
