Linnea was the first piece created for this collection — I was taken with the plush, organic look of the large cable, and became curious to see how it would work in different types of accessories and varying yarn weights. With a gentle flare around the base, this cowl is both cozy and practical in Marianated Yarn’s soft Playtime Worsted. Most of the cables can be easily worked without a cable needle, and Linnea can be combined with any of the other pieces in The Virescent Collection to create a coordinating set.

This pattern contains both fully charted and written instructions.

Recommended Yarn:
Marianated Yarns Playtime Worsted, one skein — 100% superwash merino — 218 yds (199 m) to 100 g. Shown in colorway Emerald City. Sample shown used approximately 200 yds (183 m) of yarn.

Sizing:
22” (56 cm) around base and 18” (46 cm) around body, 9.5” (24 cm) high.

Gauge:
28 sts and 31 rows to 4” in cable pattern, centered over large motif, washed and blocked.

Needles:
US 7 (4.5 mm) circular needle, 16” Optional: You may find it easier to cast on and work bottom ribbing with a 24” circular, and then switch to 16” circular after sts have been decreased.

PLEASE NOTE: Changes in gauge will affect finished size and amount of yarn used.

Other Materials:
Six stitch markers (one to indicate beg. of round, two to mark pattern repeats, three to mark slipped sts), cable needle in appropriate size, tapestry needle.

Skills Needed:
Knitting in the round, cabling, ribbing
