This bag is knitted in double strand of DK weight yarn creating an aran gauge. I choose Line from Sandnes Garn because of the fiber content in this yarn. Bags need plenty of sturdiness in its structure and a blend of linen and cotton gives this to the fabric. The bag uses in total 300 g of DK weight yarn. This is included enough yarn for the straps.

It is knitted bottom up using Judy’s Magic cast on and three longer circular needles in the beginning. There is some shaping in the bottom and in the end using regular techniques for increases and decreases.

There is two choices for straps:

1) Classic totebag straps knitted directly from the edge
2) Holes for custom made straps of choice

The bag doesn’t need a lining if the fabric becomes super sturdy on it’s own. I have made a video on how to make the lining and straps in fabric:

A lining will keep the bag in its original shape longer when used.

The bag can be knitted in 4 strands of fingering weight yarn as well. I have not tested it in this bag, but I have tested it in another pattern that will be released this summer. You only have to double the meterage/yardage compared to using two strands of DK weight yarn as the prototypes and the testing have been made with.
