Lirata shawl is worked from the bottom up, with increases at the edges – first in one piece, later, work is divided and Wing extensions are finished separately. The finished shawl can be decorated with tassels and extra beads. Two types of beads can be used on this shawl, both optional: seed beads worked in while knitting, and larger beads added to the tassels at the tips.

While the pattern contains ample explanations, a photo tutorial and links to videos for the special techniques used, the stitch patterns used are charted and NOT written out row-by-row – you need to be able to read charts in order to make this shawl. Pattern and charts have been written for the classical knitting method, with the working yarn supplied from the left and stitches sitting on the needle with the right leg in front. (When using a different method, some stitches might need to be adapted accordingly to produce the same results.)

– Circular knitting needle 3.0–3.5 mm [US2.5–4];
– Steel crochet hook for adding beads 0.4–0.6 mm (if using beads ).

Gauge: 16 sts and 32 rows per 10 x 10 cm [4 x 4 in] in stockinette stitch after blocking. If individual gauge is significantly different from pattern gauge, adjust needle size accordingly.

Finished size: Depending on yarn choice, needle size, individual gauge and blocking method.

– Yarn with 466 m / 100 g [510 yds / 3.5 oz] on 3.0 [US2.5] needles: 152 x 41 cm [60 x 16 in]; total weight 107 g [3.8 oz](with beads ).

Das Tuch wird von unten nach oben in zwei Farben gestrickt, zunächst in einem Stück, später in Teilen gleichzeitig oder nacheinander. Es mustert sowohl in Hin- als auch in Rückreihen und kann abschließend mit Quasten und extra Perlen dekoriert werden.

Die Anleitung enthält ausführliche Arbeitsanweisungen (das Muster ist jedoch nicht maschenweise ausgeschrieben, sondern nur in Form von Strickschriften enthalten), Kontrolltabellen für die Maschenzahl und einen Fotokurs für die in der Anleitung verwendete besondere Zunahme. Strickschriften sind teilweise farbig angelegt.
