Litchfield Shawl
Spend $25 or more in my Ravelry shop in one transaction and you will automatically receive 25% off your entire purchase!
Single-ply fingering weight yarn knit on larger needles produces a lovely gauzy fabric that makes this a great summer shawl - perfect for a walk on the beach in the early morning or evening.
Most of the shawl is plain stockinette with decreases at each side and in the middle; just one row out of 20 has short rows and requires a bit of attention! Knit from the bottom up, you pick up speed as you go and there is no long cast-off - just one final double decrease and you’re done!
Knit it as shown in three colors or use as many as you like. The version shown used 420 yards of one color, 310 yards of another, and 110 yards for the accent stripes.
If you’ve never done or are not comfortable with short rows, try my free Lizard Ridge Dishcloth pattern as a practice piece.
Skills required:
• Short rows
• Decreasing
First photo sample knit in madelinetosh Tosh Merino Light in Antler, Tern, and Gossamer. Third photo sample knit in madelinetosh Tosh Merino Light in Luster and two slightly different shades of Wren.
