Each Sunday during advent, a new candle is lit on the Advent Wreath in church. Each new candle representing something that came though the birth of Jesus at Christmastime, namely hope, peace, joy and love.
This little Little Advent Love Christmas Stocking is worked in two colour stranded colourwork. There are written instructions and charts for the colourwork. It is knit using a short circular needle and dpns, but can be easily adapted to the magic loop method.
This pattern has directions for working from the top down. There are instructions for a Wrap and Turn short row heel, however this can be changed to your own choice of short row, FLK, or afterthought heel. There are directions for two different toe patterns, a wedge toe and a rounded toe.
Finished Measurements: cuff to toe - 28 cm / 11 inches
Needles:
5 mm (US 8 ) 80 cm circular needles/dpns (or a short circular)
4 mm (US 6) 80 cm circular needles/dpns for toe & heel.
* If using a short circular you will need either a longer cable for magic loop or dpns when the circumference gets too small nearing the end of the toe.
Yarn: Donegal Yarns Aran Tweed (50g 87 yds/ 80 m of two contrasting colours is more than enough)
Main Colour - Raphoe (MC) & Contrast Colour - Buncrana (CC)
available from Folklore Yarns
Gauge: 20 sts x 21 rows per 4 inches using 5 mm needle in colourwork. (Although gauge is not essential it will impact the amount of yarn required.)
Notions: 2 different stitch markers, tapestry needle
