Little Bear Coat
Could a baby possibly be cuddlier? This Little Bear Coat features an ample hood complete with adorable bear ears.
The double-breasted front opening and simple ribbed stitch pattern make this unisex sweater an instant classic. Extra-long sleeves can be cuffed until baby needs the extra length.
This coat is worked in turned rows, with very minimal shaping in simple single crochet ribbing, making this project suitable for advanced beginners. Work the hood and sweater fronts as one from the top down: one piece for the right and one piece for the left. Small crocheted discs (stitched to the wrong side of Right Front) reinforce button attachment points.
Front pieces are identical, except one side has buttonholes and the other does not. Traditionally, the side that overlaps (buttonhole side) would be on the left for a boy or unisex, and on the right for a girl. Either side can be used as the right side; it is dependent on which way the front overlaps.
