Little Birds in a Tree
These little birds are meant to be tied in a tree to bring a smile to your face whenever you go outside. Tie them on a branch, next to a sturdy twig. They hold up well in weather, though they can get very wet in the rain. I originally made these birds in rainbow colors to brighten my neighborhood during the COVID stay at home order in Colorado.
It is good to remember that these little birds are meant to be viewed from a distance, and so imperfection is allowed! You will notice there are two yarn weights listed and a range of needle sizes listed because you can really make these with any combination. Of course, the size of the bird and density of the fabric produced will change based on your choices. Also, I like to add a marker to show me where the beginning of the round is.
Materials:
20-22 yards of DK or worsted yarn
Double pointed needles, Size 3, 4, 5, 6 or 7
A little bit of polyfil
Paint, thread, fabric or buttons for details (optional)
Small strands of yarn or other material to attach to tree
