This pattern is for a child’s hat with a butterfly motif. The
hat is worked in the round from the bottom up.
A matching sweater pattern is also available.

6 months (2 years, 4 years) to fit heads 40 (45, 50)cm
(15.75 (17.75, 19.75)in). The finished hat has a
circumference of 36.5 (41, 45.5)cm (14.5 (16.25, 18.25)in)

Materials
DK weight yarn in 2 colours. Wool, acrylic or a wool/acrylic blend is preferable.

The hat pictured used King Cole Pricewise Double Knitting in white (01) and grape (265).

Equipment
Set of 4 3.25mm (US3) dpns
Set of 4 4mm (US6) dpns
10 Stitch markers (One marker should be different to mark beginning of rounds)

Gauge
22sts and 30rnds = 10cm (4in) square on 4mm (US6) needles, in stocking stitch in the round and
blocked.

Techniques
Techniques used include
-Working in the round on dpns.
-Decreases, k2tog.
-Colourwork in the round.
