Little Chick
Making your first amigurumi toy can feel overwhelming, and after my students kept asking how to make toys, I decided to run a workshop.
As part of this, I designed two patterns—this Little Chick and a Cute Duck—to help build confidence and skills.
The aim was to teach key techniques such as tight, uniform stitches, creating even increases and decreases, and simple additions for a first project.
By keeping the first pattern simple, students could focus entirely on
mastering these skills. This second pattern builds on those foundations, introducing more shaping and additional details.
I’ve used Yarnsmiths Create Chenille in Chunky, which has been an absolute pleasure to work with—it’s the softest chenille I’ve used!
You can use any yarn and an appropriate hook size and this will create the same little chick but in a different size.
