Water is life. We embody water. Water is a sacred gift. Water is essential to human existence. Water is a terrible destructive force. Water is gentle rain, is torrential downpour, is a babbling brook, is a cresting river.

The Little Drops Of Water MKAL is an exploration of water mythologies and deities collected from around the world. This more-than-a-half-circle shawl is worked bottom up, beginning with an epic cast on and using reversed pi shaping to reduce the stitch count to a comfortable semi-circular neckline bind off.

Materials Needed:
- @800-850 yards lace weight yarn in a solid, semi-solid, or smooth gradient colourway.
- 3.25mm (US 3) straight or circular needle as preferred (maximum number of stitches on the needle is 438) or the needle size that produces a pleasing fabric in your chosen yarn
- @26 stitch markers to mark pattern repeats if desired
- @792 size 8/0 or 6/0 beads if desired
- 0.5mm (US 18) crochet hook for adding beads if desired
- additional 40 yards of yarn for the swatch or plan to re-use your swatch yarn

Gauge: 21 sts x 26 rows = 4”/10cm in lace motif blocked
A Note on Gauge
A gauge square is included in the instructions; this square should be blockable to 8”x8”
Keep in mind that I do not consider gauge to be essential for a lace shawl. Instead, I recommend swatching for a fabric you like. If your gauge is markedly different from that given in the pattern, you will need to adjust your yardage accordingly.

Using Beads:
Beads are called for in the first two and in the final clues. The first and second clues call for 336 beads each, and the final clue calls for 120 beads. My recommendation is to bead all three clues, the first and second clue, the first and final clue, or only the first or final clues. I do not recommend beading the second clue without also beading the first clue.
Beads are entirely optional; the finished shawl is just as effective without using any beads at all.
