This is a shape: a cape with a good fit around the shoulders, that stays in place. I designed it because I don’t like shawls and capes that don’t fit and don’t stay in place.
It is knitted top-down, has a beautiful raglan line from neck to armpit, and colourwork further down. The raglan line ensures that the shape fits nicely around the shoulders, and some added elastic in the armpit on the wrong side ensures that it stays in place all day long. The photos show size 40.
The material is 100% wool, called Bio Shetland from BC Garn. It is soft, warm and sustainable.
Every size, from 36-54, has it’s own (depth of) yoke and colourwork, so that the shape as a whole remains well balanced. Every row is included in a colour chart. The pattern is written in detail. It is written in English and Dutch.

Difficulty level/techniques used: intermediate. You know how to cast on, to knit colourwork, to purl colourwork, to use a stitch holder, to bind off, to knit garter stitch and to add some buttons or class . (If you want to do a steek and just knit in rounds, of course you could do that, too.)
Needed: Bio Shetland GOTS (read further: yarn used), circular needles size 2,5 and 4 (3 and 3,5 mm), and class or buttons.
Gauge: 5 stitches per inch (roughly 20 per 10 cm). You knit this yarn double.

Dit is een shape: een gelukkig huwelijk tussen een shawl en een cape, dat goed blijft zitten en goed om de schouders past, omdat ik het uitschreef in maat 36-54.
Het is top-down gebreid met een raglanlijn in de pas en kleurwerk vanaf de oksel naar beneden. De raglan zorgt voor een goede pasvorm rond de schouders en een ingenaaid stukje elastiek onder de oksels zorgt dat het de hele dag blijft zitten.
Het materiaal is 100% wol, warm, duurzaam en zacht. Je breit de draad dubbel; met het eind en begin van een bol tegelijk.
Elke maat heeft z’n eigen pas en lijfje, zodat de verhoudingen goed blijven. Iedere toer is opgenomen in een kleurkaartje, die voor elke maat verschillend zijn.
Het patroon is gedetailleerd en in het Engels en Nederlands geschreven.

Moeilijkheidsgraad: gemiddeld. Je weet hoe je steken opzet, afkant, hoe je kleurwerk breit (recht en averecht), en een steekmarkeerder gebruikt. Ik leg uit hoe je de open raglan moet breien.
Je hebt naald 3,5 en 4 nodig, de benodigde wol en een paar knopen of sierspelden.

Stekenverhouding: 20 per 10 cm, en 28 effen rijen per 10 cm.
