I was looking for a small, one-skein, project that wasn’t a hat or mittens, to use this skein of Fairy Lights on Basic Worsted that was in my stash. I couldn’t decide on anything, so I just cast on for a cowl and started knitting, making all decisions on the design as I went!

This was super quick to knit up, the smaller version fits an adult even with a big-ish head or a child with a more loose fit.
The larger size is a much looser fit. Both sizes should use less than one skein. If you like a taller cowl, I’d recommend doing the smaller size and doing an extra repeat of the cable pattern! (Which should still be just one average skein of worsted weight.)

Errata: If you download before March 9, please check the pdf for updated instructions for Rounds 4, 6, and 20 in the written directions and Round 21 on the chart. The current copy is up to date and the corrections are minor, so you can just pencil them if you’ve already printed the pattern.
