Crochet pattern for a small but realistic ferret amigurumi.

Size
13.5cm/5 ¼” long if made from worsted weight, 12cm/4 ¾” from DK.

Tools and materials:

  • DK or worsted weight yarn in off-white and brown
  • 3mm/C hook if using DK weight yarn, 3.5mm/E for worsted (or size needed to obtain a tight, no-gaps fabric)
  • 4mm (for DK)/4.5mm (for worsted) black plastic eyes
  • embroidery floss in brown, black or pink, for the nose
  • fiberfill stuffing
  • stitch markers, pair of scissors, pair of tweezers, pins, yarn needle, embroidery needle
  • sewing thread and needle, or glue, to attach the eyes

Difficulty
This pattern is suitable for intermediate to advanced level crocheters, who are confident with basic stitches (ch, sl st, sc) and frequently used amigurumi techniques (invisible decrease, magic loop).

The body and the tail are crocheted in one piece and the head and legs joined as you go, so there are only the ears left to attach in the end - ideal for those who (like me) tend to stall on assembly. All shaping is created without turned rows or tall stitches, so nothing breaks the smooth single crochet surface.

The pattern is written in English using US crochet terminology (UK/Aus equivalents provided). It contains many in-progress photos to help you crochet your ferret, but also includes a text-only appendix for easy printing, if you prefer working from a printed pattern but want to save ink and paper.

Finished amigurumi made from this pattern are yours to keep or gift or sell, I only ask you to credit me as the designer in case you decide to sell them.
