Little Flower Bulb Vase
LITTLE FLOWER BULB VASE
It‘s cold outside and fresh flowers nowhere to be seen?
Just crochet yourself a little flower bulb vase and but some artifical flowers inside!
Once spring finally arrives you can easily replace them with real ones since there‘s an orchid tube/water tube inside which provides your flowers with water.
Of course the vase can be done without such a tube (and then can be used with artificial flowers only of course).
The face is optional, too, of course. So if you‘d like it pure and simple just leave it out.
Bonus: Except for the cheeks there‘s no sewing involved! :)
All steps are explained in detail in words and pictures, so this pattern is suitable for (practiced) beginners as well.
This pattern contains 10 pages of crochet instructions and 13 pages of detailed step-by-step instructions.
Used techniques (US crochet terms): magic ring, chain, slip stitch, single crochet, half double crochet, increases and (invisible) decreases, crocheting in front loops and back loops – explained.
The figures are crocheted in continuous rounds/spirals as well as back and forth in rows.
The bulbs get to be about 10.5 cm tall (from bottom to top of the inner vase-part – without leaves) (with 2.0 mm hook and Sport weight yarn like Catania Originals).
You need it smaller or bigger? No problem! Simply use lighter or heavier yarn.
The orchid tube I used here won‘t fit then though.
MATERIAL
For bulb and leaves you need about 20 g each of Sport weight yarn (e.g. Catania Originals). For the roots, cheeks and the mouth you only need a bit of leftover yarn.
For the eyes I used 6 mm safety eyes.
The orchid tube has the outer dimensions of 16 x 80 mm (without lid) and has a tapered end.
For stuffing I recommend poly pellets, fine gravel or something equaly heavy.
