Little Ghosts
This is a cute, quick halloween toy. Knitting toys is fun because there is no need to get an exact gauge, and you can use up little yarn scraps you have left over from larger projects.
Besides yarn, you will also need a bit of black embroidery thread for the eyes.
To me, the most important thing about knit ghosts is that they have a wavy, fluttering body, a body that looks as if they are moving on air currents, flying weightlessly and magically through the sky. I spent a couple false-starts, trying to get the waviness of their bodies just right. The solution I finally came up with has the added advantage of a lacy pattern that lets light through when you stand them over (electric!) candles, or bike lights.
It’s an intermediate level pattern, but since the ghosts are small, if you already know techniques like knitting in the round, k2tog etc, they don’t take very long. You experienced knitters out there can whip a couple of these little guys up yourselves, and add a little cute-spookiness to your Halloween decorations.
