In planning a design to go with the Latvian Braid article, I wanted to do something a little different than the traditional Fair Isle stitch patterns that normally accompany Latvian Braids. I had just bought Andrea Rangel’s AlterKnit Stitch Dictionary, and when I saw the stitch pattern for the alien heads, I knew I had found what I was looking for (I was the kid who read every sci-fi book in my school library). I smile every time I look at this hat.
