SEPTEMBER/2013:
PLEASE PM ME AND I WILL SEND YOU A COPY OF THE PATTERN.
This pattern is suitable for an adventurous beginner and is a very quick knit. It calls for a bulky weight yarn but a worsted weight yarn which is doubled can also be used. I have made this sweater several times over for gifts because it is very practical and can also be worn for at least 2 years or possibly 3. The collar and sleeves are picked up and knit and the shoulders are put together using a 3 needle bind off, leaving only the sleeves and side seams to be sewn together. It could also be easily converted to knitting in one piece on circular needles up to the armholes and the sleeves could also be knit circularly to eliminate all seaming if that is your preference. I have drawn schematics for those who like to visualize the pattern pieces. The entire coat is knit in garter stitch and either a single crochet border or a blanket stitch can be used for an edging. Enjoy!
