Little Jam Jars
I heavily modified a no-name, no-image pattern from ca. 1875. To me, the pattern looked like plump little jam jars with slightly skewed lids! My pattern has a 12-stitch, 4-row repeat. The stitch count changes from right-side to wrong-side rows: 2 extra yarn overs on the right-side row repeats are paired with 2 decreases on the wrong-side rows. The swatch is 6” square.
Bamboo Pop yarn color used was “fuchsia” but use any block-able yarn or thread you like.
Skills needed: cast on, slip, knit, purl, SSK, p2tog, yarn over, Jam Jar stitch (see note in instructions) and bind off in knit stitch.
Gauge is not important in this pattern. Any block-able yarn/thread will work. Make a swatch to check gauge and appearance.
70 yards of Bamboo Pop will make about 10 inches of a 38-stitch-wide swatch at gauge.
