The Little Knit Fish are the perfect way to use up your leftover sock yarn. You know, the little pieces that are too small to do anything else with? Make the most of your yarn with a little aquatic friend, perfect as decoration, cat toys, or simply wee stuffed animals.

Size
The finished fish is approximately 11-12cm / 4.5-4.75” from end to end, and 7.5-8.5cm / 3-3.5” around at the widest point.

Yarn and Yardage
At least 3g of fingering weight sock yarn, or 12 yards. If working a two-tone fish, you’ll need 6 yards of C1 and 6 yards of C2. Sock yarn with nylon is preferred, as it will be more durable.
Black embroidery thread or scraps of black fingering weight yarn is needed for the eyes.

Needles and Gauge
US 1/2.5mm, or size needed to achieve a tight fabric.

Exact gauge isn’t important for this pattern, but the fabric should be tight enough not to show stuffing. I find for most yarn, US 0/2.0mm or US 1/2.25mm is the best choice.

Notions
Knitting needles for knitting flat, darning needle, polyfill for stuffing, and black embroidery thread or scrap pieces of fingering weight yarn for eyes.
