A knitting pattern for a relaxed fitting, drop-shoulder pullover with no waist shaping. It features a big love heart that is created using the intarsia technique. The contrast ribbing gives the sweater a fun retro vibe. Made using chunky yarn, it is a quick knit and a cosy winter garment. It is worked flat in panels and seamed. The neckline stitches are picked up and worked in the round.

This pattern is written for eight baby and children sizes - 6 months (12 months, 18 months, 2 years) (4 years, 6 years, 8 years, 10 years).

NOTES

  • If you are not familiar with Intarsia Knitting, there is a link to a great in-depth beginners tutorial included in the pattern.
  • This jumper has a relaxed fit and balloon sleeves which makes it easy to dress your little one and provides room for layering.
  • There is 20cm of positive ease in the body and 10cm in the sleeves. Take the child’s chest measurement and add 20cm to determine your size.
  • As there is a lot of variance between different brands of Bulky/Chunky weight yarn, it is important to do a tension square/swatch and check your gauge. Adjust your needle size in order to reach the gauge as stated.
