A round neck, puffed sleeve baby dress & hat.
I didn’t plan to write a pattern, but people are asking so here is what I did. Hopefully you can extrapolate this for your own needs.
(Disclaimer: this pattern has not been tested)
This dress and hat are a direct result of things I have learned on Ravelry from people likeElena Nodel andCarina Spencer, so my BIG THANKS to them both and to everyone who shares on Ravelry.
As requested, I will try to write down what I did/make a “pattern” for this dress ;) It is worked top down, in the round.
More or less:
- Start with the neck/ribbing.
- Do an increase row, then split the stitches, 60/40 (60 for the front/back and 40 for the sleeves) and place markers.
- Work stockinette with raglan increases until the front/back are the right size.
- Put the sleeves on hold and knit the body straight to length.
- Purl a row, then do another increase row and make the ribbed ruffle.
- Pick up the sleeves making the curve with short rows.
- Switch to ribbing to finish.
- The little white bow was made centre-out, with a provisional cast-on and ribbed in much the same way as the ruffle. It was attached to the dress using its tails after binding off and then trimmed with a bit of twisted i-cord.
The hat in the photos is a modifiedRegina Hat by Carina Spencer
Update: May2013 ERRATA:
There is a mistake in the stitch count of the raglan increases (my thanks to LeighLeighLilac) When I have time, I will fix the pattern. (Hopefully this weekend?)
September 2013 (holey cow it’s September already!)
I have finally updated and uploaded the corrected file. Fixed the raglan stitch counts and the hat decreases. Sorry for the delay. If anyone finds anything else, please let me know. Thanks!!
