Little Tank Engine hat
All aboard!
My little boy was a great fan, and I still know the names of every character. The little engines beanies are fun and quick to make.
I have done a few fairs, and it’s so nice to see, otherwise bored little boy faces, break into smiles when they spot the hats on my stall.
The pattern covers sizes 1 to 2 yrs (17 in. head circ. and 7 inches in height) and 3 to 5 yrs (18.5 in. head circ. And 8 inches in height)
Instructions are color coded by sizes, to make them easy to follow.
you will need (per hat)
~ Medium weight (4) yarn like worsted weight, or DK yarn.
About 80 yards of the main color, plus smaller amounts of grey, black, white
red and yellow.
~ G6 Hook (US) or 4mm (UK). Tapestry needle, Scissors, measuring tape.
~ Small amount of fibrefill.
Gauge is 15 dc x 10 rows = 4in square (for the beanies)
or 16 sc x 18 rows = 4in square (sc is used for the face details)
The pattern is written in US crochet terms, and classed as easy by my testers. I would think even beginners who have mastered the basic stitches, increase and decrease will be able to make this hat. In any case, I am happy to help anyone to complete their project, so don’t hesitate to contact me if you have any questions.
