“Elizabeth - or Beth, as everyone called her - was a rosy, smooth-haired, bright-eyed girl of thirteen, with a shy manner, a timid voice, and a peaceful expression, which was seldom disturbed. Her father called her ‘Little Tranquility’, and the name suited her excellently…” Little Women - Louisa May Alcott
Little Tranquility Shawlette is an asymmetric triangular shawl, knit using one skein of fingering weight yarn. Garter stitch alternates with three different stitch patterns to keep the knitter’s interest.
This is the little sister of the Little Tranquility Shawl, which developed out of a love for the Little Women story and the release of Giddy Yarns Little Women collection. I choose the character Beth as my daughter is also called Beth.
The pattern has been designed to use one skein, but also has instructions if you want to use contrasting colours It has full written instruction and an abbreviated version. There is a reference chart for the lace. Please read all instructions before commencing pattern.
